About us.
Help Us Get Settled is a 501(c)(3) community based non-profit. We partner with local public and private refugee agencies. HUGS fulfills requests to alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors, and helping those affected survive, recover and rebuild their lives.
At Help Us Get Settled we are committed to supporting displaced individuals. We do this by providing emergency resources via our partnerships which foster emotional and physical healing. Our programs help empower individuals and groups to become self-reliant. We host quarterly community events to encourage awareness and motivate community participation in support of refugees.
Mission

Housing
Match refugees with affordable living options through vacation rental, hotel, and apartment partnerships
Basic Necessities
Costco runs for food, hygienic supplies, toys, etc.
Employment
Connect refugees (via our networks) to job opportunities that align with their skill set
School Registration
Assist refugees (children) to get registered with local schools and day-care programs
Transportation
Provide Uber/Lyft, bus pass credits, and/or assist in purchasing an affordable car
Assistance with Documentation
Review and assist in submitting required paperwork and/or connect refugees with legal support
Why We Care.
There are many reasons why it is our calling to help refugees in need. For one, helping refugees is an act of compassion and humanitarianism. Refugees are often forced to leave their homes due to conflict, persecution, or natural disasters, and they often face difficult challenges in their new environments. By providing housing assistance, we can help improve lives and give refugees the support they need to rebuild and move forward. Additionally, helping refugees can also be seen as a way of supporting and strengthening our global community.
